'One ride to paradise’ wins global Suzuki photo competition

Following a hugely successful, global search for the ultimate photo to illustrate the ‘Suzuki Marine Way of Life’, Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced the winning photo, ‘One ride to paradise’, which comes from New Caledonia.

1965 saw the Company’s first outboard motor, the D55, hit the water and since then, Suzuki has been at the very forefront of outboard technology – all the while designing the ultimate range of outboards. To celebrate this milestone, Suzuki asked boaters to submit their interesting photos, which show them experiencing Suzuki-powered adventures on the water. The winning shot, ‘One ride to paradise’ – which will feature in the Company’s promotional material throughout 2015 – does just that.

As well as commending the overall winning photo – which was chosen from entries spanning 21 countries – Suzuki also presented three ‘Awards for Excellence’ to the runners up who captured their own enjoyable boating experiences. ‘Suzuki Sunset’ from Sweden, ‘Doing it the Mozambican way’ from South Africa, and ‘Feel so nice with Suzuki outboard’ of Japan will all receive a pair of Edo Kiriko, Japanese traditional faceted glasses, and a jigsaw puzzle made from their photos.

“The competition, which ran from June 2014 until November 2014, proved very popular and we’re pleased so many boaters wanted to share their boating experiences. 2015 is an important year for all at Suzuki and we’re pleased to be able to celebrate with boaters all around the world and, of course, to be able to award our winner by using their photo in our promotional material throughout 2015,” says Masahiro Yamamoto, General Manager, Suzuki Marine European Liaison Office.

And the celebrations don’t end there. In this, its 50th anniversary year, Suzuki is issuing a 50th anniversary historical book and is planning a number of local events, competitions and giveaways throughout 2015.
